International Universities - roadshow

On 22 November 2023, Bryanston welcomed the Universities Guys as part of their ‘Southern England Roadshow’, for the school’s first higher education event of this academic year.

Representatives from twelve universities, in seven different countries, visited Bryanston and met over 130 of pupils. Every year, 30 or more students show an interest in applying to study abroad.

As Lisa Kearney, International Universities Advisor, commented, “There is nothing wrong with the well-trodden path through UCAS to British universities, but young people nowadays - and Bryanston pupils in particular - are more outward looking. They are open to new ideas and willing to explore what the world can offer them.

“Here at Bryanston, we want to give them every opportunity to look beyond the obvious and see what is out there, and events such as this university fair will do that.”

If Bryanston’s pupils make the decision to apply to overseas Universities they are guided through the process in one-to-one sessions. The support doesn’t stop when A level or IB results come out. Some students also decide to post apply and Bryanston has always been very supportive of those students who decide to take that route.

Of the 12 universities visiting, former Bryanston pupils are currently studying at nine.

Three pupils received Ivy League offers last year, including Aurelia S who had an offer from Harvard and other OBs are currently studying at universities across the USA, including Vassar, Boston, UC Berkeley, and UC Santa Cruz.

There were also two applications to Canada and many to Europe, including several to Spain. Issy W is now studying at IE Madrid, having been awarded a generous scholarship, with other former pupils going to Dutch, German and Swiss universities, and one now attending a jewellery design course in Italy.
