Pupils in Year 7 and Year 8 at Bryanston Prep worked incredibly hard to bring Mary Poppins to the stage.
On Thursday 21 May, we welcomed children from local schools, Blandford St Mary Primary School, Spetisbury Primary School and Durweston Primary School, to enjoy the production, alongside the Bryanston community, family and friends.
Huge congratulations to the cast: Jamie G (Bert), Jess F (George Banks), Poppy M (Winifred Banks), Kara A (Jane Banks), Kit B-M (Michael Banks), Ayala D S K (Katie Nanna), Rebecca S (Mrs Brill), Gareth S (Robertson Ay), Mila-Belle W (Mary Poppins), Michael T (Neleus), Niamh R-A (Bird Woman), Zoe-Mae M (Miss Smythe), Henry J (Chairman), Ferdinand V R (Von Hussler), Henry C (John Northbrook), Alexa B (Mrs Corry), Skyela H (Miss Andrew) and Eddie S (Policeman Messenger).
Director of Performing Arts Vicki Green commented: “It has been a pleasure to bring this show to the stage and watch the cast and crew grow in confidence. From the first rehearsals in lessons, to the final stages of production, it’s been a full-on and demanding experience for all of our Year 7s and 8s. The last few weeks have really demonstrated to the children involved, the challenges (and rewards!) of working in a professional theatre environment. With so much to learn and so much to remember, the children embraced the challenge with warmth and humour, bringing their imaginations to the stage.
“One of the reasons Mary Poppins continues to capture the hearts of audiences of all ages is its timeless sense of nostalgia and childlike wonder. It reminds us to find joy in the everyday, to embrace our imagination, and to believe that a little magic can appear when we least expect it. As Mary herself says, ‘Anything can happen if you let it’, and this spirit has been at the heart of our rehearsals from the very beginning.”
