Prep Boarding Round-Up

19 January 2026

It’s been a fantastic start to the new term in the Prep Boarding House, and a real pleasure welcoming everyone back after the Christmas break. From Monday evening, the house has been buzzing again with lots of laughter, plenty of energy, and that familiar sense of belonging that makes boarding feel like home. The children have come back refreshed and upbeat, and they’ve slipped back into house routines with ease.

In our first week back, we spent lots of time together in the JB Hall, making the most of sports, games and activities, as well as movie and gaming nights. A definite highlight was Mr Floyd’s own version of The Traitors. It had everyone completely hooked and provided a lot of entertainment.

We’ve also been delighted to welcome a new full boarder, Michael, who has settled in brilliantly. He already feels like part of the furniture in the best way, and he’s brought great energy (and plenty of laughter) to the house.

The weekend didn’t disappoint. On Saturday morning, Mr Ridley and Mrs Gosling led a sports session up at the Senior School, with a mix of activities and some pool time, which was a clear favourite. Saturday evening was a calmer one back in house. A cosy night of chatting, laughing and catching up properly after the holidays. Several boarders also enjoyed playdates and sleepovers with friends, which is always lovely to see.

On Sunday we headed up to the Senior School for a superb brunch, followed by glow-in-the-dark dodgeball and Nerf battles, hugely popular and a brilliant way to round off the weekend. Do take a look at the photos; they really capture the fun.

Week 15 has carried on in the same positive spirit. One evening, the boarders got creative with paper planes and origami using recycled wastepaper from around the Prep School. We ran a few friendly competitions – best design, longest flight and most impressive flight pattern – and there was lots of imagination (and cheering) on display. Another favourite was an in-house game of sardines in the dark… always a hit.

Friday evening brought our much-anticipated Year 5 & 6 Sleepover, which was a real standout. The theme was American cinema, and the canteen was transformed into a brilliant American diner thanks to the catering team, who put on an amazing spread that the boarders absolutely loved. There was candy floss, popcorn and a pick ’n’ mix station, before we headed to the cinema room for a film and a relaxed evening with friends.

On Saturday, we went up to the Senior School to watch some sport, then headed into Poole for supper at Pizza Express followed by ten-pin bowling. It was a great outing and a really enjoyable chance to spend time together off site.

Sunday was a gentler day. Many boarders went out with friends again, while those staying in enjoyed a lie-in, brunch, a bit of time at the Senior School, and then a relaxed afternoon back in house to recharge.

All in all, it’s been a wonderful first two weeks back. With a shorter week ahead because of Exeat, we’re looking forward to making the most of Monday to Thursday evenings.

As always, thank you for your continued support. We’re excited for everything the rest of the term will bring.
