Freddie B in Year 9 (D) was selected for the PV Youth team with three other players from schools across the UK and headed to Dubai in the Easter holidays for a week’s polo training and matches.
A member of Dorset Polo Club, Freddie was the only non-Sixth Form pupil in the team. Sponsor Prestige & Village hosted the team as they stayed at Al Habtoor Polo Resort.

The competition started with a qualifying match in which the team enjoyed a comfortable win of eight goals to two and a half. This took them through to the final of the Dubai Youth World Cup at the end of the week, which after a very exciting match, they came out victorious with nine goals to one.
Director of Riding and Equestrian Centre Manager, Sophie Starr, commented: “This was an incredible achievement for the four players involved, who had never played together before and were playing on unknown ponies in some fairly extreme heat. Freddie returned home happy, tired and with some great new friendships.”
