River Camp Expedition for Year 7s at Bryanston Prep

18 September 2026

This week our Year 7s took part in an exciting two-day River Camp Expedition, led by members of our Outdoor Education team and supported by Bryanston Prep staff.

The children enjoyed taking part in outdoor activities, including team-building, cooking dinner, sitting around a campfire and camping overnight beside the river at Bryanston Senior School. Year 7s also enjoyed a 14km hike around the beautiful Dorset countryside, showing super resilience and team spirit.

It’s been brilliant to see the poems and artwork submitted by our talented pupils after the trip. We hope you enjoy looking through the gallery (lots of happy campers!) and reading them.

A night of fun, a long walk done, I definitely enjoyed it.

Good food, good mood, not much could spoil it,

Sleeping in a tent, in a sleeping bag nothing ever made me sad.

I wake up to a breakfast that fills, followed by a hike through

The hills. Big ascents, Big descents, a walk up high. Finally, we rest for

Lunch. One last push we made it back, I fall on the floor like a sack.

Now that the day is done, now it’s all over, pain, the fun, this was the camp out.

    A smoky fire,

    All to desire,

    It grabbed the stars above,

    With a heated hand,

    It touched the land.

    Smores and chores,

    Camping is all about fun,

    Hiking in the sun,

    Around the fire,

    Musical notes inspire,

    The misty thick smoke,

    Stars shining bright,

While the shining night turns into light.

    Suddenly twilight,

The rain comes in the morning light,

The sky is blue and faces are grey,

But we still have to get on with the day.
