Congratulations to our IB pupils

7 July 2026

Congratulations to this year’s group of IB pupils who, before any re-marks have been received, achieved an average score of 33 points, comfortably above this year’s global mean of 30.32.

The IB Diploma Programme is globally recognised by universities as a genuine test of academic rigour and resilience with a requirement to study six subjects in addition to completing an Extended Essay, a Theory of Knowledge module and a Creativity, Activity and Service programme.

The results reflect both the academic ambition and the breadth of interests of this group of A2s and our post applicants (last year’s A2), who are now preparing to take up places at leading universities in the UK and around the world.

This year’s applicants submitted 40 applications across at least six countries in addition to the UK, continuing Bryanston’s long-standing tradition of sending pupils to both global and domestic destinations. Offers and places secured include the University of Hong Kong, ESADE Business School in Barcelona, medical school in Malta, and the universities of Oxford, St Andrews, Durham, UCL, Exeter, Bristol, King’s College London and LSE, among others.

The range of courses pupils are moving on to study reflect the versatility of a Bryanston education and the individuality it nurtures. This year’s leavers have applied to read subjects including Politics, Law, 3D Design Innovation, Biomedical Sciences, Aerospace Engineering, Fine Art, Music, Climate Science, Business, Filmmaking, Biological Sciences, Costume Design, Mechanical Engineering and Sport Science.

IBDP Coordinator Ed Pyke said:

“We are extremely proud of this year’s IB pupils not only for the results they have achieved, but for the ambition and independence they have shown throughout the programme. Their destinations reflect the breadth of their talents and interests. The IB sits very naturally alongside the Bryanston Method, encouraging pupils to think independently, make connections across disciplines, and pursue the path that is right for them.”

Head Richard Jones added:

These results speak to the real strength of the IB. It challenges pupils to think broadly, work independently, and connect ideas across subjects and that breadth is exactly what sets them up to thrive at university and beyond.”

Bryanston is the only school in the UK to offer its own unique teaching method based on the Dalton Plan, the Bryanston Method, a distinctive and highly personalised model of teaching and learning. Every pupil is paired with a one-to-one tutor, and sixth formers are given dedicated periods, known as CPs, built into the weekly timetable, where they discuss and evaluate their work in small groups with a subject teacher. This university-style approach, closely aligned with the demands of the IB, develops intellectual curiosity, self-discipline and a passion for studying a broad range of subjects, qualities clearly reflected in this year’s results.

Bryanston remains one of only a handful of UK schools to offer the IB, A Levels and CTECs side by side, ensuring every pupil can follow the curriculum best suited to their aspirations. It is one of the UK’s largest boarding schools.
