Athletes deliver standout performances at Lutra Shield

18 May 2026

Bryanston pupils produced a series of standout performances at the Lutra Shield athletics competition, held at the Yeovil track on Saturday.

The event brought together seven schools for an afternoon of high-quality competition, with Bryanston athletes showing determination, resilience and team spirit across a demanding programme.

Seni P led the way with an exceptional individual display. Competing against a field that included pupils up to two years older, she claimed victory in the sprint hurdles before adding further wins in both the long jump and shot put.

There were strong performances on the track too. Oliver G H secured an impressive second place in the 200m, while Paul R finished runner-up in the 800m after a determined run. Haz L W also delivered an encouraging performance in the 100m, improving his personal best ahead of a try-out at Bath University this week.

In the 1500m, Daisy A made a bold start in a highly competitive field and battled well to finish third, just as heavy rain began to fall over the track.

The conditions became increasingly challenging as the afternoon progressed, but Bryanston’s team spirit remained strong. After an injury forced a late change to the relay squad, Bea N stepped in at short notice for the 4 x 100m relay and helped the team deliver an excellent performance.

The boys’ relay team also rose to the occasion, completing their 4 x 100m race in 48.86 seconds. Oscar D adapted well to an unfamiliar distance, while Amair T produced a particularly strong finish on the final leg.

It was an impressive afternoon for Bryanston, marked by individual success, personal progress and a strong collective effort in difficult conditions.
