Alanna Fraser

Alanna Fraser is passionate about empowering young people with the transformative competencies to thrive in adult lives likely to be shaped by widespread social and industrial change.

Alanna founded her company, Character Compass Consulting, to support schools with the delivery of character education: her mission is to give young people a personal development toolkit to navigate their lives and careers with purpose, confidence and compassion. A trained coach and coaching skills facilitator, Alanna regularly visits schools to run workshops for students and staff alongside her work as a conference speaker. She is also currently writing a book on student leadership skills.

Alanna has 20 years’ experience in the education sector, primarily within leading independent schools. Her diverse background includes pastoral and academic leadership roles as head of student wellbeing, department lead and head of year, alongside classroom teaching within her specialisms of PSHE, Religious Studies, Philosophy and Critical Thinking.

Most recently, Alanna worked in the alternative provision sector as head of Y11, providing targeted pastoral and academic support to students with additional needs. She has a deep understanding of the issues facing neurodivergent students and is also a mental health first aider.
