It has been another impressive two weeks for our riders across the school, with standout performances across prep and senior teams, as well as international success to round things off.
The prep riders led the way last week, with Edward L (Prep) producing a strong performance in the NSEA Regional Finals at Moreton, resulting in him securing qualification for the Hickstead Sunshine Tour in both dressage and show jumping. He also went on to join Sofia A and Bertie B as part of the Prep NSEA team, finishing second in the 60cm class against strong competition.
There were further excellent results across the classes. In the 40cm, Max H claimed first place individually, with Frankie L finishing third, while the team of Olivia A, Edward L, Fleur A and Frankie L took the team win. The 50cm class also brought success, with Sofia A finishing third and Aggy B fifth individually, and the team of Bertie B, Edward L, Aggy B, Fleur A and Sofia A taking first place. In the 60cm, Edward L, Sofia A and Bertie B combined to secure second place as a team, finishing just behind Millfield.
Bertie B also impressed in the unaffiliated 70cm, competing against adults and taking first place, a result that highlighted both confidence and maturity beyond his years. Overall, it was a huge day for riding at the prep school, with resilience, teamwork and community spirit at the heart of the success.
The senior riders continued the strong form at the NSEA County Qualifiers, enjoying a great weekend and qualifying at 70cm, 1m and 1.10m. Notable rides came from Nancy W-C, Ava R, Indie W, Millie B, IO T, Martha M, Matilda B and Elisa B. The teamwork and kindness shown among the riders stood out throughout the weekend, even in cold and wet conditions.
Elsewhere, Mahri S delivered an excellent performance in the showjumping at Chard, placing in the 1m class and winning the 1.10m, providing an ideal preparation for the season ahead.
The fortnight concluded with an international highlight as Alex G took her pony to the Longines FEI Show Jumping event in Leipzig. Over four days of high-level competition, the pair performed superbly, finishing fourth and eighth in large, highly competitive classes. It was an outstanding achievement and a sign that an exciting international future awaits this talented pair.
