Prep Sports Day celebrates participation, performance and House spirit

12 June 2026

Bryanston Prep enjoyed a fantastic Sports Day, bringing together pupils, parents and staff for one of the most anticipated events in the Prep calendar.

The day began with the Pre-Prep and Nursery events, where younger pupils took part in a range of races and activities around the track. Years 1 and 2 competed in sprint races, long jump, throwing events and longer-distance races, while Nursery and Reception pupils enjoyed their own activities and had the chance to cheer on the older children.

Following a picnic lunch on the front lawn, pupils from Years 3 to 8 paraded down to the track in their Houses before an afternoon of athletics. Events included sprint races, middle and long-distance races, high jump, long jump, vortex throw, shot, discus and javelin, before the day concluded with the House Shuttle Relay.

The event has continued to grow and evolve over recent years, with the introduction of more pupils, Houses and events creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere. There was a wonderful balance between participation and performance, with pupils encouraged to challenge themselves while also representing their Houses with pride.

Rory McCann, Director of Sport at Bryanston, said: “It was wonderful to see so many happy pupils representing themselves and their Houses with such pride. There was a lovely balance between participation and performance, and I think this was recognised by many of the parents. I am excited to see how this event continues to grow.”

The day was a celebration not only of sporting achievement, but also of teamwork, encouragement and community spirit. Congratulations to all pupils who took part, and thank you to the staff and parents whose support helped make the day such a success.
