On Friday, we held our first GCSE Celebration Event to recognise the achievements of pupils who completed their GCSEs last summer and are now in A3.
Mrs Perkins, Head of B and C, identified pupils who had achieved particularly strong results, as well as those who had made impressive progress from their mock exams through to the final GCSEs. Departments were also invited to nominate individuals who deserved special recognition for achievements within particular subjects.
In total, 33 pupils were invited to join us in the Library, along with their parents, for an informal evening of celebration. Guests enjoyed drinks and a cheese board provided by the catering team, as well as some additional delicious edible treats from Mrs Marsden.
Mr Davies, as Head of Sixth Form, reflected on how passing through the ‘fire’ of the GCSE period was an essential preparation for further study, a testing ground where confidence and resilience can be found as they move into Sixth Form study.
It was a lovely evening, with plenty of smiles, congratulations and time for pupils, parents and staff to catch up and celebrate together.
After such a positive first event, we are very much looking forward to doing it all again next year.
