ESAA Qualifying Round Held at Bryanston

6 October 2025

On Thursday 2 October, Bryanston proudly hosted the English Schools Cross Country Cup County Round, marking the first race of the season. This event is traditionally one of the most competitive fixtures in the calendar, and this year was no exception, with strong fields and fierce competition throughout the day.

Competing on home ground across a spectator-friendly, undulating, and challenging course, Bryanston fielded five teams:

  • Junior Boys (Prep School)
  • Intermediate Boys (Cs and Bs)
  • Intermediate Girls (Cs and Bs)
  • Senior Boys (B, A3, A2)
  • Senior Girls (B, A3, A2)

The Intermediate Boys ran superbly over a demanding 4.2K course, with many tackling this distance for the first time. Wilbur T produced an excellent performance to finish 11th, leading the team to a commendable 7th place overall.

The Intermediate Girls faced perhaps the toughest competition of the day, both in strength and depth, over a 3.2K course. Undeterred, they approached the challenge with determination and teamwork, rising impressively to the occasion.

The Senior Boys, a close-knit and supportive group, gave their all and worked superbly together to achieve a creditable 9th place finish.

In the Senior Girls’ race, Daisy A delivered an outstanding run, finishing 5th overall, the highest individual finish of the day for Bryanston. Jenna, who only took up running this term, continued her remarkable improvement to secure 19th place, completing the course strongly.

Throughout the event, the whole squad was backed by fellow SBR members, who kindly volunteered as marshals to support their teammates.

This is a small but dedicated group of young athletes who represented Bryanston with pride, teamwork, and determination. We look forward to seeing their continued progress as the season unfolds.
