Bryanston community unites for annual 10 km Whole School Walk

2 May 2025

For more than a decade, Bryanston’s Whole School Walk has been a highlight of the Summer term, and this year was no exception.

On Sunday 27 April, pupils, staff, Old Bryanstonians and families laced up their trainers for the scenic 10 km route that winds through the School’s bluebell‑lined woodland and rolling Dorset countryside.

Head of Charities and Outreach, Hannah Fearnley, said, “The walk is a wonderful way for returning pupils and staff to reconnect before the whirlwind of the Summer Term. We were so lucky to have glorious weather, all the more perfect for pupils to enjoy our incredible grounds before the busy exam season begins.”

Adding an extra challenge, Year 12 pupil Jalila (A3) invited other pupils to run, rather than walk, the course in return for sponsorship. Joined by several A2 runners, and accompanied by Mrs DK, Jalila has already raised over £5,600 for YMCA Bournemouth ahead of the whole year group’s charity sleep‑out this evening.

Hannah Fearnley added: “The 20 rowers who ran the course raised a huge amount of sponsorship. We’re delighted to have raised over £11,000 and have had a call this week from the Chief Executive of YMCABournemouth to thank us for our fundraising efforts and for raising more money than other schools in a standalone event.”
