Mark Mortimer

Mark Mortimer has been the Headmaster of Bryanston since September 2019.

He was educated at Mill Hill School, Saint James School, USA and the University of London, where he read history. On leaving university, he attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and then spent eight years as a British Army officer in the Light Infantry regiment.

His first teaching post was at Giggleswick School, where, during six years at the school, he was Head of History & Politics and an assistant housemaster in a boarding house.  He also coached the 1st XV. From Giggleswick he moved to Hampton School as Head of Sixth Form. From 2008 to 2013, Mark was the Deputy Headmaster of St John’s School, Leatherhead and then spent six years as the Headmaster of Warminster School.

Mark is a keen sportsman, particularly rugby, cricket and cycling, and has coached pupils at various levels during his career. Not afraid of taking on an adventure, Mark has twice rowed across the Atlantic Ocean and in 2017 he successfully completed the Marathon des Sables footrace across the Sahara.

Mark is married to Anna, who is from Paris and they have three children at prep school.
