Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition to North Wales
At the end of the summer term, whilst most pupils went home looking forward to a long summer, 34 A3 pupils travelled to North Wales to complete their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Assessed Expedition.
The pupils walked for four days through, up and over the Snowdonia National Park. The six groups taking part carried everything they needed to be self-sufficient for the entire expedition, camping out for three nights. The weather during the first two days was extremely challenging. However, to the credit of all those involved, everyone pushed through and survived to enjoy two glorious sun-filled days. These provided stunning views across the whole national park and a chance to see the mountains they had passed in near zero visibility only the day before.
Congratulations to all those who took part and a huge thank you to the staff who supported the expedition. Pupils are now going on to complete the final sections of this prestigious award.
