OBS RETURN FOR ANNUAL CROSS COUNTRY RACE

The annual OB cross country race took place at Bryanston last Sunday. Runners of all ages and abilities from across the Bryanston family competed, with fathers and sons, current and former staff, current and former pupils, their families, friends and pets all taking part.

The event winner was Bryanston’s former teacher and cross country coach, Nathan Shrubb. Mr Shrubb gave up teaching last year in order to concentrate on his running training full-time. Not all the running was taken as seriously however, with two entrants running in formal dinner jackets and black tie just for fun.

Nick Jackson showed true grit and determination to achieve his own personal goal of finishing the course. He was cheered to victory by two of Bryanston’s current pupils, who stayed with him to encourage him on over Gym Hill and through to the finish line at Coade Hall.

All entrants received a Bryanston medal for participating and winners’ cups were presented to Nathan Shrubb for fastest male, Charlie George for fastest pupil and Libby Rose for fastest female.

Libby Rose commented, ‘Thank you so much for a great day on Sunday. It was really good fun (most of the time!!) and so lovely to catch up with old friends. And a nice surprise that the tea was held in the room I designed with all my artwork on the walls. I am looking forward to next year’s run when I can hopefully reclaim my title!’

Whether you wish to pit your time against the cross country team, achieve a personal best, run in fancy dress, or jog, walk or run for fun, all are welcome to participate.
