Bryanston U14 girls win hockey County Championships

The Bryanston U14A girls were awarded the Dorset county title yesterday after an outstanding sporting performance, winning all four of their games without conceding a single goal.

The girls started slowly against Leweston in their first group match, but a much improved second half saw Bryanston score four unanswered goals. Next came a 9-0 demolition of St Mary’s, meaning that confidence was high going into the semi final against Sherborne. Miranda May scored the only goal of the match with a reverse stick shot into the bottom left and Ceire Fowley made a fine one-on-one save with seconds left to play when Sherborne attempted to equalise. The final saw Bryanston facing Canford, the team they had drawn 2-2 with only last Saturday. The girls knew they would have a tough game and, despite their exhaustion, stepped up their efforts to outrun the opposition. The winning goal came from Lulu Marshall after a great run from Ailsa Rauh down the right hand side early in the first half and the Bryanston defence remained firm throughout the game to ensure the 1-0 win.

Good luck to the girls as they go on to represent Dorset at the regional competition.
