Educationalists gather for inaugural Education Summit
On Wednesday 7 June over 400 teachers and educationalists converged on Bryanston School for its inaugural Education Summit supported by the TES.
The Education Summit, on the theme of delivering a world class education in turbulent times, brought together people from across the education sector in the South West and beyond, with the aim of encouraging academic debate and learning. Keynote speakers included Lucy Crehan, Professor A C Grayling, Sean Harford (National Director, Education for Ofsted) and Professor Dylan Wiliam. Sessions throughout the day covered a diverse range of topics, including memory research in the classroom, using technology to improve learning, the challenges and opportunities facing primary schools, and how to raise boys’ achievement.
One delegate noted, “It was an outstanding event, the best I have ever been to! It ran so smoothly, was professional, catered for everyone and of course, hosted in such a fantastic location. I left feeling refreshed and enthusiastic about education and eager to get started with many ideas of my own.”
Dr David James, Director of the Education Summit and Bryanston’s Deputy Head (Academic), said of the event, “In the current climate we felt it appropriate to run an education summit that addressed some of the major issues facing schools today. We believe that by bringing people together from across the education sector, to establish new connections, we can begin to find solutions to issues that affect everyone involved.”
