Girls' 1st XI have triumphant first outing

Bryanston girls' 1st XI cricket team had a fantastic inaugural match against Ryde School in week six.

Put into bat first by Ryde, captain Katharine O gave Bryanston a solid start very quickly retiring on 15. Wickets then seemed to fall at regular intervals until at 51 for 6, Natalie MN produced an excellent innings of 12. However, at 84 for 9 with Katharine O back at the crease, Matilda C, Bryanston's number 11 arrived having just sat her biology exam. Together Katharine O (37 not out) and Matilda C (29 not out) were able to take the score to an impressive 130 off 20 overs.

Ryde in reply batted positively, however they had not counted on the truly magnificent bowling and fielding display from the Bryanston team. Run outs from Immi B, Tuesday D and Matilda C, as well as outstanding catches from Immi B and Hatty C ensured that Ryde were bowled out for 107, with Matilda C taking 3 for 4, Izzi T 2 for 23 and a wicket each for Immi B and Matilda L. History will record that the Bryanston girls' 1st XI won their first match by 23 runs and, as such, become the most successful team in the school!

Very well done to all the pupils involved and to the staff and coaches who have so skillfully supported the team.
