Outdoor Education busy with Duke of Edinburgh Awards

This Easter break saw the Outdoor Education department very busy indeed, running three Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions.

Gold DofE pupils braved gale force winds to walk and camp for five days in the Brecon Beacons, whilst Bronze pupils were luckier with the weather and basked in the sun on their practice expedition last weekend.

Eight A3 students were provileged indeed to have the opportunity to spend a week completing their Gold DofE Assessment expedition onboard a 65ft Catamaran. Starting in Portsmouth they sailed east to Chichester, then west to Weymouth, before making the return journey - clocking up over 200 nautical miles. The team excelled in all aspects of their expedition, which included tidal planning, cooking, cleaning and sailing the boat unaided.

Congratulations to all pupils who took part in the DofE expeditions, and many thanks to Bryanston staff for contributing their time and energy to make the trips a success.
