Bryanston welcomes 76 string pupils from prep and primary schools for special event

On Tuesday this week, 76 excited string pupils arrived at Bryanston to experience the joy of playing in a big string ensemble.

The pupils were mostly from prep schools and primary schools. The day was led by the De Kooning Ensemble from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and was supported by a whole team of string teachers from Bryanston.

In the first session, pupils had the opportunity to play a prepared solo piece and receive feedback. The second and third sessions were dedicated to rehearsing 'a festival rondo.'

There were parts available for every standard of player, from beginner right through to grade 6 standard. The final performance was simply outstanding and is a credit to the pupils, their schools and teachers who had meticulously helped the pupils prepare the parts ahead of the day.

Christina Scott, Head of Strings at Bryanston, commented: “The final string sound in the concert was simply spine-tingling.”

We look forward to welcoming some of the pupils back next term who have been selected to receive an individual masterclass and record a piece of their choice.
