Sixth former celebrates athletic success in the U20 European Trials
A3 pupil Emily S has had a run of successes in athletics over the past year and celebrated two more significant achievements over the weekend.
Emily came second in the England U20s 1500m at the English Athletics Championships and then subsequently came fourth in the U20s 3000m final at the British Athletics Championships in Manchester, achieving a personal best.
Mr Blanco, in charge of girls’ cross-country running at Bryanston, commented: “This was an outstanding achievement for Emily, being the youngest girl in the U20s race, and yet to stand there among the best and fastest runners in the home nations, finishing fourth in such an amazing time and achieving yet another PB. Truly magnificent!”
Emily’s coach at Wimborne AC commented: “Emily has proved that she has the mentality to handle the big occasion and here was another example of it. In a race sandwiched between Piers’ heat and Mo Farah’s 10000m trial, she shone again.”
Hsm of Hunter House Ms Velasco commented: “We are all so proud of Emily! She thoroughly deserves all of her successes as she is such a dedicated athlete. We can’t wait to see what the future will bring for her.”
