OB Evie Coplan delivers online workshop for string pupils
Earlier this week the Music Department welcomed back Old Bryanstonian Evie Coplan to deliver an online workshop to the School’s string pupils.

OB Evie was joined by Jessica Meakin from The De Koonig Ensemble to work with our pupils on the first movement of Mendelssohn’s octet.
Head of Strings Christina Scott commented: “The string department was thrilled to welcome back Evie and Jessica, who are both part of The De Koonig Ensemble comprising Guildhall School of Music students. Their sessions were energetic and inspiring, and it was interesting to hear their insights into the different ways they have approached their chamber group rehearsals in lockdown.
“Restrictions allowing, the whole of the ensemble will come to Bryanston next term to coach the Bryanston octet.”
Since leaving Bryanston, Evie has been enjoying studying the cello at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Professor Tim Lowe, and more recently with Professor Tim Gill.
Director of Music Xavier Iles commented: “Being able to draw on the wider expertise in our Bryanston family is a huge benefit. It not only enriches the learning experience of our pupils, but it also is extremely encouraging for our musicians to see which paths their predecessors have chosen. For us teachers, it is simply fulfilling to see pupils return with the passion they found in their careers and we will keep on building the bonds we have with them.”
