Bryanston celebrates excellent GCSE grades

Everyone in the Bryanston community would like to congratulate our B pupils for their outstanding GCSE grades.

36.7% of our GCSE grades were in the top band (grades 9-8), with 56.4% graded 9-7 and 89.2% being graded 9-5. This represents our strongest grade 9-8 performance and best grade 9-7 performance since GCSEs switched to 9-1 grading.

Like all pupils in the country, this year group had to live with uncertainty over their final assessments to add to the disruption of the preceding two years. Having been given the opportunity to prove their ability in the traditional end-of-course examinations they have truly shown their best.

Notable success stories include one pupil who was awarded grade 9s in eleven of his twelve GCSEs, an outstanding set of grades and a reflection of both his ability and the hard work he put in over two years. Two others also stood out, having achieved grade 9s in ten of their eleven GCSEs.

Incoming Deputy Head Academic, Mark Deketelaere remarked: “These grades are a hugely pleasing end to a demanding two years, for staff and pupils alike. They show how diligently our pupils worked over the duration of their courses, as well as applying themselves to their revision effort and the exam season with commendable calm and focus. This is a strong year group that show great promise and I am excited to be able to see them develop further in the Sixth Form.”

Head of B Year, Katie Kean added: “I would like to congratulate the Bs on their excellent GCSE results. As well as individual success stories, the year group should be proud of their hard work, positive attitude, and the support they gave to each other during their exams, especially as this year was their first full year at Bryanston due to pandemic closures. As these pupils progress into the Sixth Form, I know they will use what they have learned, in all aspects of their Bryanston education so far, to excel in the huge variety of options they go on to.”

Head Richard Jones commented: “I am absolutely delighted to see our pupils achieve such a tremendous set of results. Whilst the number of 8s and 9s is wonderful to see, I am proud that the whole Bryanston community works together in supporting each and every individual to realise their own potential. Our B cohort will now enter the Sixth Form with a strong foundation and begin either their A level or IB course with the confidence and knowledge that the unique Bryanston Method has set them up to be successful in the next stage of their educational journey.”
