Pupils Shine in Action-Packed Week of Sport

12 May 2025

A glorious week of sunshine brought out the best in Bryanston’s young athletes, who delivered a series of impressive performances across cricket, tennis, rowing and sailing.

Cricket Success Across the Board

Thursday saw the U14 cricket team notch a convincing win against Sherborne, while the U15s and 2XI put up spirited efforts despite falling short. Saturday was a clean sweep for Bryanston, with all cricket teams emerging victorious.

The U15 girls delivered a standout performance against Sherborne, highlighted by an exceptional 40-run partnership between Bea N and Bess B M, sealing the win in the penultimate over. Willow L also added to her growing tally of runs.

For the boys, the 1XI overpowered Monkton Combe, thanks to a commanding 114 not out from Captain of Cricket Ranuk K and a solid 53 from Alfie A I. Meanwhile, Sam H B anchored the U15s with an unbeaten 75.

Tennis Strength Across All Ages

There were superb results on the tennis courts as well. Against Bishop Wordsworth, the boys’ and girls’ U18 teams emerged victorious, alongside the U15 boys. On Saturday, senior players faced our Old Bryanstonians, with the mixed and girls’ teams showing enthusiasm and skill against Milton Abbey, winning all but one tie.

Rowing Success at Bristol Avon Regatta

Nearly 40 Bryanston rowers competed in the Bristol Avon Regatta on Saturday, with several crews reaching finals and securing wins, including:

J15 Single Sculls – Monty M

J15 Coxed Quads – Luke C, James W, James S, Monty M, Cecil G

Senior Novice Coxed Quads – Luke C, Archie M, Angus M, Cam B, Helena G

Sailing at Spinnaker

Six Bryanston sailors competed in the Southern Area Team Racing Championships at Spinnaker Sailing Club on Saturday. Facing stiff competition from 13 teams and sailing in challenging windy conditions, our students completed ten hard-fought races. For two of them, this marked their first-ever team racing regatta, a fantastic milestone.
