Prep Boarding Weekly Roundup – Week 9

18 November 2025

It has been a brilliant week in the Prep Boarding House. The boarders have once again thrown themselves into everything on offer, and it’s been wonderful to see such enthusiasm, energy and teamwork throughout the week.

We’ve spent plenty of time up at the Senior School, making great use of their facilities, from tackling routes on the bouldering wall to dodgeball as well as some table tennis tournaments at the prep school in the JB Hall. Back in house, the children enjoyed a mix of movie nights, board games, rock art and colouring, giving them the chance to unwind at the end of a busy school day.

Friday saw our Year 3 and 4 boys and girls enjoy their themed sleepover, this time inspired by Spy Kids. After supper, the children headed outside for an action-packed evening expertly led by Mr Floyd. Dressed in dark or camouflage clothing, they set out on a mission to evade torch patrols and make it safely back to base. There was plenty of crawling, hiding, dodging and sprinting and, predictably, lots of mud! The children absolutely loved the adventure and the chance to explore the school grounds in a completely different way.

After hot showers and into pyjamas the children relaxed in the Common Room, surrounded by duvets and pillows, for our film of the night, Johnny English. For many, it was their first evening boarding and for some, their very first night away from home and we were incredibly proud of the confidence, kindness and maturity they showed throughout.

On Saturday, our full boarders enjoyed a fun trip to Southampton’s West Quay shopping centre, complete with a very popular visit to Slim Chickens for lunch. The evening was a quieter one back in house, and after such a full week, everyone appreciated an earlier bedtime.

Sunday brought a well-earned lie-in followed by the popular Senior School brunch. Afterwards, the boarders headed to the pool for inflatables before finishing the weekend with a Sunday afternoon dog walk around a nearby village and a visit to the park.

It has been another fantastic week in the boarding house.

Have a lovely Exeat weekend.

Mr Jones
