As Week 4 drew to a close, there’s was a real buzz around Booker House. With Exeat and an early finish on Friday, our boarders still managed to squeeze in a remarkable amount of fun, creativity, and activity last week.
Tuesday began with an early swim at the senior school, while Friday saw many joining the PSP programme and representing the Prep with pride. The children also worked hard to make sure Booker House looked its very best for Open Morning. A huge thank you goes not only to them for their effort, but also to our fantastic Matron, Sarah Cornick, and our wonderful housekeeping team, Tracy Tomlins and Angie Marish, who always keep us so well looked after.
Our activity programme has been as lively as ever. This week the children built LEGO models, made friendship bracelets, and continued their beautiful poppy creations in preparation for the Remembrance Service. They also enjoyed the adventure playground, a few rounds of tennis, and a cosy movie night, complete with plenty of popcorn.
The highlight of the week came on Thursday evening, when 23 boarders stayed overnight, our busiest night of the term so far. The evening began with an energetic Nerf battle in the sports hall and finished around the campfire, where hot chocolate, marshmallows, chocolate biscuits, and plenty of gooey s’mores made for a magical night. A special thank you to Dawn Ball for setting up the fire and helping us create such a memorable experience in the Forest School area. The children absolutely loved being back there, and it’s clear they’d jump at the chance to return, so watch this space!
All in all, it has been a fantastic week and a brilliant first quarter. With 29 different pupils boarding with us so far this term, the house is full of energy and friendship. A busy boarding house is certainly a happy boarding house, and we can’t wait to see what the weeks ahead will bring.
