‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ Comes to Bryanston

19 June 2025

Coade Hall came alive as Year 7 and 8 pupils performed their very own Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to a full house.

Directed with “great panache and creative vision” by Drama teacher Katie Richards, the ambitious prep school production delivered everything from soaring ensemble numbers to a “flying” Chitty. We like a challenge!

Pupils learned songs, harmonies and choreography during their regular 50-minute music-drama lessons, then pulled everything together in a handful of after-school rehearsals before an intensive production week in Coade Hall, when the set, props, lights, sound and costumes all come together.

Special thanks must go to Director of Performing Arts, Vicki Green, Lucy Horder who captained the stage crew, Angus M (A2) and Simon Parker on sound, Liz Suter on lighting with William V on follow-spot and wardrobe wizards Cara Killier and Abi P (A3). We were also delighted to have the visiting ‘real’ Chitty on site.

Stand out performances go to Jamie G, Poppy M, Eliza C, Juliette S, George S, Finn C, Hattie C and Jess F.

Director of Performing Arts Vicki Green praised the pupils’ professionalism, “They coped with quick changes, complex harmonies and a flying-car cue all in one night to put on a truly fantastic performance.”
