We are very proud to announce that Bryanston has been awarded the Eco Award at the prestigious Tatler Schools Awards 2026, held on Monday evening in London.
This accolade is especially significant, as it was not only contested by hundreds of independent schools across the country, but also decided by the votes of Bryanston parents and the Old Bryanstonian (OB) community.
The award recognises Bryanston’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Central to this achievement is the leadership of Bryanston Art Teacher, Charlotte Mason, who has driven the work of the Future Roots Collective (formerly the Green Committee), inspiring pupils to translate ideas into meaningful action and helping to embed a lasting culture of environmental care across the school.
The Development Team’s initiatives included the Plant a Tree campaign, the commemorative tree project, and the BryGiving Rewilding project which resonated with the OB community and furthered Bryanston’s mission to protect and nurture the natural environment on its 450-acre estate. Our hard-working Grounds team, led by Rob Froud, went above and beyond to ensure the required woodland areas were cleared for the environmental campaigns and projects, clearing and planting all 250 trees over a 4-week period, plus working on a 30–40-degree bank felling and maintaining the trees during the summer months.
Sustainability is also at the heart of daily life on campus. At the well-known Bryanston Café, students and staff enjoy drinks and food served with recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable utensils. For the past year, many disposables have been sourced within the UK to reduce air miles. The Café also partners with a local coffee roaster, who not only supplies ethically sourced beans but also collects spent coffee grounds to repurpose into roasting logs closing the loop in a truly sustainable way.
Looking ahead, we are preparing to host the Future Roots Festival on 4 November 2025, as part of Green Careers Week. The event will be an opportunity to celebrate progress, showcase pupil-led initiatives, and reinforce the school’s commitment to sustainability for the future.
