We may only be a few days into the new school year, but Bryanston has already won a prestigious national award and is a finalist in two other 2023 award programmes.
The school has just received confirmation it has achieved the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award in the 2023 Talk Education Awards for Innovation in Education. It is particularly significant as the award has been presented by a respected parent-focused organisation that is keen to highlight the work of schools “forging ahead with new ideas and initiatives.”
“Winning such an important award is a fantastic way to kick off the new school year, and we are thrilled that our forward-thinking approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) has garnered national recognition,” says Oli Nicholson, EDI Lead at Bryanston.
“It’s no longer merely about having an effective, supportive, and adaptable EDI strategy. Schools should actively engage, empower, and educate pupils, staff, and parents on these sensitive and often emotionally charged topics. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to pioneer innovative, collaborative, and all-encompassing approaches that extend beyond the boundaries of our school community.”
“Being presented with such an accolade is a credit to the pupils and staff at the school and the wider Bryanston community as well as neighbouring schools within the Blandford Schools’ Network. We are also indebted to the support and commitment of Natasha Eeles and her colleagues at Bold Voices, a social enterprise that helps young people to challenge and address the root causes of gender inequality and gender-based violence. The value and effectiveness of our partnership with Bold Voices really has enabled us to go the extra mile.”
Bryanston has also been shortlisted for two other national awards. We are finalists in a new DEIJ category in the Independent Schools of the Year 2023 Awards, and the ‘Mind Champion’ category of the School House 2023 Awards which is in partnership with the ISEB. The winners of these two awards will be confirmed in a few weeks’ time.
