Bryanston Prep launched Black History Month with a powerful assembly led by Headteacher Dominic Floyd, setting the tone for a month of learning, reflection, and celebration.
Each class has been exploring the life and legacy of a significant figure in Black history, highlighting the struggles they faced and the courage they showed in standing up for equal rights.
Our Year 4 pupils have been learning all about Nelson Mandela and his fight against apartheid, his long imprisonment, and his incredible journey to becoming South Africa’s first Black president.
Through these lessons, we’re not only celebrating history but also reinforcing the importance of respect, equality, and unity in our everyday lives.
We also looked at the raised Black Power fist, a symbol of unity and resistance, reminding us of the strength shown by those who fought for justice.
Let’s continue to learn from the past to build a better future – together.
