A3 pupil highly commended in Newnham Woolf Essay Prize
Sixth form pupil Josie L has been ‘Commended’ by the judges of the Newnham Woolf Essay Prize.
Newnham College Cambridge is one of the 31 colleges of the University of Cambridge, and each year runs a series of Essay Prizes for Year 12 pupils at any UK school.
The Woolf Essay Prize includes questions inspired by Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own, and allows pupils to contemplate the place of women in society and culture, while developing their own independent research and writing skills essential to university-level study.
Head of English Ms Weatherby commented: “We are very proud of Josie’s achievement, particularly as the judges have informed us that the field of entries was extremely strong.
“Josie will soon receive her certificate from Newnham College, and it is highly-deserved.”
