The boarders have had another fantastic week. The first week back was always going to feel special, but somehow the second week has been even busier and more exciting as everyone settles in.
The children have enjoyed a wide range of activities, from rounders on the lawn to conker collecting in preparation for the eagerly anticipated knockout competition. We’ve also made great use of the wonderful grounds and facilities, with visits to the senior school sports hall for dodgeball and basketball. Local adventures have included a trip to the park in the village, as well as an outing to the Dolphin Shopping Centre in nearby Poole.
Creativity has been flowing too with the children busy making poppies for our upcoming Remembrance service, which will be proudly displayed around school. They will also be selling them to the wider school community including to our security team at the gatehouse, many of whom have strong service links.
We’ve also had reason to celebrate, with Jamie turning 13 this week. A huge thank you to Liz and the wonderful team in the kitchen, who put together a bespoke birthday breakfast and supper menu of Jamie’s choice, followed by a show-stopping chocolate fudge cake reminiscent of the famous Matilda scene with Bruce Bogtrotter. Thankfully, unlike Bruce, everyone had plenty without being forced to finish it all!
Sunday brunch is fast becoming a boarding highlight, and this week was no exception – a real treat for everyone. We rounded things off with an afternoon of slipping and sliding on the inflatable assault course at the pool, which was an absolute hit.
It’s been another happy week in boarding, and the children continue to throw themselves wholeheartedly into every opportunity within the boarding family.
