Tennis Festival reflects the quality and dedication of Bryanston’s players

23 May 2025

On Thursday 22 May, Bryanston hosted a Tennis Festival with back-to-back fixtures against Winchester College and Godolphin.

The senior boys scored a stunning 5-4 victory vs Winchester College, a side beaten just once this season. The key moment in the match was between second pair Xander B and Jad K (both Year 11) and the Winchester first pair. At 4-4, Xander hit a series of amazing winners to go 5-4 up. Jad then served out solidly to win the set 6-4.

Head of Tennis Tim Reynolds commented: “This is our first win over Winchester for many years and reflects the quality and dedication of our 1st VI.”

Winchester College also brought a 2nd VI (4-0 to Bryanston) and their 1st VI girls narrowly defeated the Bryanston 3rd VI girls 5-4 in a very closely fought match. The Bryanston junior boys’ winning streak came to an abrupt end against strong Winchester teams, but our players learnt a lot.

The senior girls played well with firsts and seconds beating Godolphin 5-4 and 8-1 respectively. Daisy C and Poppy B (both Year 12) did especially well for the seconds, winning all their matches, including a tie break in the final match. Our U14 A and B girls also played at home, battling hard to lose 7-2 and 9-0. The girls U15 played well away at Godolphin. The A team lost narrowly 5-4, and the Bs won 5-4 and Cs won 8-1.
