Strong Season Opener for Bryanston Motor Racing at Goodwood

3 May 2025

Bryanston Motor Racing launched its 2025 season in style at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit, fielding two pupil-built electric cars in both Greenpower Formula F24 (under-16) and F24+ (16 and over) categories.

Formula F24 is a 90-minute endurance race that requires two compulsory pit stops so three drivers can share the distance. Both Bryanston kit cars were making their first competitive outing of the season, so the opening race doubled as a shakedown test. Intermittent steering issues forced unscheduled stops, and neither car completed the full running time. Even so, the teams fought back to claim 13ᵗʰ and 18ᵗʰ places among 45 starters, an encouraging base-line result.

In F24+, one driver covers the entire 60-minute distance. With the cars now dialled in, the senior squad delivered one of Bryanston’s best Goodwood performances to date, finishing 3ʳᵈ and 5ᵗʰ in a fiercely competitive field.

A second F24 race closed the programme. Both cars ran flawlessly and were circulating in 5ᵗʰ and 8ᵗʰ when a heavy accident elsewhere brought out the red flag with 20 minutes remaining. Officials declared the race, locking in shorter than expected distances -frustrating, as the teams looked set for their first top-ten F24 finishes.

Season qualification is based on cumulative distance – roughly the top 80 cars earn invitations to the International Final, back at Goodwood in October. The distances from our morning race currently stand as our official scores. Upcoming rounds will be at RAF Chivenor (Devon) next week, Predannack Airfield, )Cornwall) in midsummer and Dunsfold Aerodrome, (Surrey) next term.

Last year one Bryanston car finished just outside the top ten at the Final; this year the team is targeting double car top ten finishes.
