Sixth Form Evening with MP Simon Hoare

6 March 2026

Sixth Form pupils were given a unique opportunity to engage directly with local MP, Simon Hoare, during a special Q&A event held at Bryanston yesterday evening.

The event began with a small supper attended by Mr Hoare and five selected Politics pupils. who discussed his role as an MP and gained insight into the workings of the House of Commons, parliamentary life and the day-to-day responsibilities involved in representing a constituency.

Afterwards he took part in an open Q&A session with pupils asking a range of insightful questions on important topics, such as whether the voting age should be lowered to 16, the increasing prominence of minor political parties, and the theoretical implications of changing the Westminster electoral system. Others turned to global affairs, including discussion about the emerging conflict in the Middle East.

The discussion provided Sixth Formers with a valuable opportunity to explore contemporary political issues and better understand the democratic process. By the end of the evening, many left with a deeper appreciation of the complexities of political decision-making and the role elected representatives play in shaping national debate.
