Our Pre-Prep children all came together in Forest School on Tuesday for a truly special outdoor Harvest Lunch, using only the vegetables grown in the school garden and cooked over the campfire. Nursery and reception children started the celebrations on Monday by digging, cleaning and preparing potatoes, leeks, carrots and pumpkin for a delicious autumn soup, whilst our Year 1 class made some lovely flat bread and helped to decorate the Forest School canopy.
The celebration started with the arrival of a beautiful harvest loaf made by Liz in the school kitchen and the children all coming together under the trees to sing autumn celebration and harvest songs. We enjoyed warm apple juice and forest school elderflower cordial with our bread and soup, but the dish of the day had to be the delicious stewed apple and rhubarb topped with toasted oat crumble.
