Packed out Concert Hall for ‘Rhapsody Meets Opera’

13 March 2026

The Elder Concert Hall was packed out on Wednesday 11 March as the audience enjoyed a spectacular evening of music, ‘Rhapsody Meets Opera’.

The first half celebrated two outstanding A2 music scholars accompanied by a professional orchestra, which included 14 of our own talented pupils. Oliver H (violin) captivated the audience with the 3rd movement of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade and Sancha H’s (piano) performance of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue was simply stunning.

After the interval, the School Choir and Bryanston Choral Society delighted the audience as they sang through a wonderful programme of well-loved opera choruses including the Polovtsian Dances, Toreador Song, Nessun Dorma and, with Archie M playing the anvil (kindly lent by the DT department), the Anvil Chorus.

The choir was joined by soloists Camilla Foster Mitchell (soprano) and A2 music scholar Nancy G (soprano), Robert Felted (tenor) and James Schouten (baritone).

The evening was a wonderful celebration of music. Congratulations to everyone who took part.
