Design & Technology Department host the finals of Dragons’ Den project

10 July 2025

During the final week of term, our Design & Technology Department held the finals of their Dragons’ Den project, with 51 pairs of pupils delivering their final pitches to showcase their problem-solving products.

The top eight pairs qualified for the final and had to convince our very own Dragons – Mr Payne, Mrs Ings, Mrs Dales and Mr Jones (not Peter Jones!) why they should be chosen for support to take their ideas through to market.

Following some very impressive presentations, this year’s top three were as follows:

  • Third place – Max M and Tom W with their 3D Printed Bryanston Fidget spinners, which will be offered as a small gift to all prospective parents and pupils.
  • Second place – Edward H with his rotating pot plant, that enables any indoor plant to slowly spin to enable more vertical growth and distribution of light.
  • First place – Oz G and Penelope K-P with their 3D printed, tailored Smart Rings that enable their users to store an array of personal links and files, accessible via a contactless chip.

Head of Design & Technology Chris Mills, commented: “It was wonderful to see so many impressive young entrepreneurs at the Dragons’ Den final this year, who presented clearly and responded well under questioning from our panel of Dragons. This open ended, problem-solving project for design and technologists in D (Year 9), lies at the heart of the School’s Entrepreneur & Innovation pillar.

“Well done especially to Max, Tom, Ed, Oz and Penelope for impressing the Dragons… we look forward to supporting them to take their ideas to market.”

Our Entrepreneur & Innovation pillar is underpinned by our E&I Advisory Board, a group of professionals from across the Bryanston family, helping to prepare the next generation of pupils to thrive and succeed. Board members, including OB Flinty Bane and Prof. Sebastian Conran, bring extensive expertise across different fields of entrepreneurship and help to mentor pupils pursuing an entrepreneurial future beyond Bryanston.
