A run of successes for Bryanston Netballers

There have been some fantastic results for our netballers with the U14 and U16 both making it through to the County Finals.

The U16 squad qualified for the County Finals by coming third in the North Dorset tournament which took place last week at St Mary's School Shaftesbury.

In the pool games results were as follows:

  • vs Shaftesbury: won 15-5
  • vs Gillingham: won 11-7
  • vs St Mary's: won13-2

In the semi finals they played Sherborne. The girls conceded three quick goals before they got into their stride, but finished the first half 4-7 down. The girls then came out strongly in the second half, pulling back to only a goal difference, but unfortunately finally lost 8-10. However, in the 3rd/4th playoffs, they met Gillingham again - a significant game as only the first three teams qualify for County Finals. The girls kept their composure and played some tidy netball to win 12-9 and so qualified in third place. Congratulations to the squad!

On Thursday we were out again with the U14 girls in their age group area tournament, and a first outing for this squad of players.

U14 North Dorset Champions

In the pool games the results were as follows:

  • vs Sturminster High School: won 15-2
  • vs Gillingham School: won 8-2
  • vs Gryphon School: won13-2
  • vs St Mary's: won 9-3

In the semi finals the team came up against Clayesmore. They started strong and at half time were winning 6-1. Clayesmore came out fighting in the second half, but the team managed to keep their composure and won 9-6, which meant we were finalists! St Mary's were the next opponents, having beaten Sherborne in their semi final. In what was quite a scrappy first half, with both teams making mistakes, we came in at half time 3-3, with all to play for. In the second half, the team settled down and played some great netball winning 11-6. This means that they go through to the County Finals as North Dorset Champions!
