OBs Sir Terence Conran and Sebastian Conran help nurture next generation of Bryanston designers
This week we were delighted to welcome two design masters back to Bryanston, as OBs Sir Terence Conran and Sebastian Conran returned to spend time with the school’s students of Design and Technology.
As a governor, Sebastian is a frequent visitor to Bryanston and he also provides support for pupils through initiatives such as the annual Bryanston Business Conference, at which he is a regular speaker. However, it was Sir Terence’s first visit for many years.
During a tour of the campus, father and son took in many of the places they each remembered from their own schooldays, as well as the newer buildings, many of which Sir Terence had not seen. Sir Terence also visited the Tree of Life, a sculpture created by his former teacher Don Potter, the renowned sculptor and ceramicist, whom he has described as ‘truly inspirational’.
After lunch with Bryanston’s A3 Design and Technology students, Sir Terence and Sebastian then spent the afternoon looking through their impressive portfolios of work and answering their questions on careers in design.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Sir Terence and Sebastian for the time and valuable advice they so generously shared with the current generation of Bryanstonians. The pupils are now looking forward to a reciprocal visit to the Design Museum in October.
