Bryanston hosts The Dorset Leadership Academy for the 10th year

We were proud to host The Dorset Leadership Academy (DLA) for the 10th time, welcoming hundreds of children from schools across Dorset.

The DLA programme, funded by Active Dorset via Sport England, offers a wide range of leadership training opportunities for children and young people in primary, middle, secondary and special schools across BCP and Dorset.

The programme is led by Daniel Moody and supported by key partners, and its mission is to create a movement across schools that unifies young leaders who have a passion to champion sport, physical activity, and play.

Guest speaker Aaron Phipps MBE delivered the opening address

The opening address took place in Coade Hall with guest speaker, Aaron Phipps MBE. Aaron is a Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby athlete and gold medal winning Paralympian.

The programme for the day aimed to equip young people with the necessary skills and knowledge to act as sport and activity champions within their schools.

More than 500 young leaders from 32 schools across the county attended the event. Programme lead and event organiser Daniel Moody, commented: “It was a privilege to celebrate the tenth year of the Dorset Leadership Academy at Bryanston yesterday. I’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our partners and workshop deliverers that made the day possible. All of the students that attended did themselves and their schools proud.

"After such a challenging couple of years, sport and play have never been so important. Young people have enormous potential to lead change for each other by creating positive experiences to improve not only the physical, but mental wellbeing of children and young people."
