Bryanston family comes together at the Design Museum
At the beginning of October, over 200 members of the extended Bryanston family converged on the Design Museum in Kensington to celebrate design. The event was part of the school’s Beyond Bryanston Breakfast Series (although on this occasion not held over breakfast!) and brought together Old Bryanstonians, parents, current and prospective pupils and friends of the school who are working in, or have aspirations to work in, design and its associated fields.
Design has a prestigious history at Bryanston and two of the school’s best-known OB designers, Sebastian Conran (Sa ’74) and Sir Terence Conran (C ’48), gave generously of their time to provide other members of the community with an unrivalled insight into the sector. Current and prospective pupils with a passion for design enjoyed a private tour of the Design Museum with Sebastian before joining OBs, parents and friends for his talk on the Design Value Equation. An impromptu Q&A session with Sir Terence Conran, founder of the Design Museum, provided a rare opportunity for Bryanstonians to pose questions to the industry icon.
The Design Museum’s soaring atrium was a fitting setting for networking drinks, which rounded off the event as established practitioners shared their experiences with the next generation.
Our warmest thanks go to Sebastian and Sir Terence for an invaluable and memorable evening for all who attended.
