Bryanston computer science pupil leads the school response to supporting medical research
Tris W, an A2 computer science pupil at Bryanston, is spearheading the School’s computing contribution to medical research linked to COVID-19.
Tris researched and developed a plan to utilise spare computing capacity whilst the School is working remotely, which he then presented to the computing department. His plan sees Bryanston configuring virtual servers on its network and turning their computing power over to an organisation called foldingathome.org. This in turn uses this computing capacity to simulate protein dynamics and the movement of these proteins within a variety of diseases.
We would like to thank Tris for his work and for thinking so constructively about how he can use his knowledge and skills to make a really positive impact. If you would like to learn more about this project please do visit www.foldingathome.org/about/ and join the Bryanston team, entering the team name ‘Bryanston’ and the team identity of 263730.
