Pupils tour ancient Greek sites

At the start of the Easter break a group of 25 sixth form pupils headed off to Greece to explore aspects of classical civilisations first hand.
The pupils, who all study Latin, Greek or Classical Civilisation, started in Athens with the iconic Acropolis temples, then toured a circuit of several hundred miles around Delphi, the home of Apollo's oracle on a panoramic mountainside, Olympia, home of the Olympic Games, Mycenae, the site of King Agamemnon's ancient city fortress, and Epidaurus, one of the largest outdoor theatres in the world and renowned for its exceptional acoustics.
The sites were magnificent and the A2 Classical Civilisation pupils were excellent guides, explaining the museum sculptures to their fellow travellers. There was plenty of sun, Greek cuisine and entertaining company.
