Giving to Bryanston

Thank you for your interest in giving to Bryanston.

Bryanston School is a UK registered charity number 306210

How the charity spends its money

The charity aims to advance the education of boys and girls by the provision of a day and boarding school in or near Blandford Forum, Dorset and by other incidental and ancillary educational activities and other associated activities for the benefit of the community.

You are invited to give your charitable support to pupils in two priority areas:

The Bursary Fund

Bursaries is one of the key ways that our School community ensures we are fully representative of the world we are all a part of. We know that the benefits to our community are deeply enhanced when our student body more accurately reflects this and our bursary programme is the pathway into Bryanston for those pupils with limited financial means, and who we would very much like to be part of the Bryanston family.

Donations are applied to ...

Funding pupils' education at Bryanston. 100% of your donation goes directly to supporting deserving pupils' school fees including any gift aid that can be applied. It is a fact that while talent is spread evenly throughout society, opportunity is not. Many successful futures are created through the generosity of people like you who choose to make their gift to the Bryanston Bursary Fund.

Why are donations necessary?

Our Bursary Fund is currently insufficient to cover the number of funded places we would like to offer. Every year we have to turn away pupils that we feel would benefit our community due to a lack of funding. As a fiercely independent school, dedicated to providing the very best education, we receive no government funding and precious few trusts include schools like ours in their eligibility criteria. The School was established with a loan not an endowment and therefore any costs not covered by school income has to be funded through philanthropy.

The Bryanston Fund

The Bryanston Fund supports our pupils with their educational ambitions and gives the School the flexibility to respond to their needs. Gifts to this fund provide a breadth of educational opportunities for pupils to explore. From Bryanston's traditional pioneering programme, to student-led projects such as the Green Committee which aims to include Dorset schools in promoting sustainability and green issues as part of their students education.

Donations are applied to...

Areas where the School feels pupils need immediate support. Previously funded projects have included a glass kiln, a skatepark, a film ECA, steel drums and live-streaming facilities at Bryanston. It can also cover student hardship funding or bursaries.

About the fund

As an unrestricted fund, this fund gives the School the flexibility to meet immediate needs. The Bryanston Fund is where your gifts reach well beyond the curriculum and advances pupils' educational opportunities through experiential learning. Gifts to this fund empower explorers, creates space for discovery and excites imaginations!

Why are donations necessary?

School fees are necessarily limited but our education shouldn't be. Bryanston's breadth of education is a cornerstone of what makes Bryanston unique. Being able to advance pupils educational experience through our co-curricular offering, enables them to build important life-skills. This encourages curiosity, confidence, grit and determination, while fostering a love of learning that will enable a Bryanstonian to lead an abundant life, full of interest, love and fun.

Ways to give

Legacies

We strongly encourage our supporters to consider leaving a legacy to Bryanston.

A bequest to Bryanston offers you an opportunity to make a gift during your lifetime that reflects your beliefs and values, while leaving a meaningful legacy that supports the aims of the School.

Legacy giving adds several advantages to your estate in the form of significant tax benefits. For example, as a charitable donation it will not count towards the taxable value of your estate. You can therefore cut the inheritance tax rate of the rest of your estate by leaving a percentage of the estate to charity.

At Bryanston, we are pleased to recognise those benefactors who notify us that they have chosen to remember us in their Will with automatic enrolment into The Coade Society.  Coade Society members will receive either a beautiful pair of solid silver cufflinks or a silver brooch, as well as an annual invitation to lunch with the Head for an inside view on the School’s progress and aspirations.

The Coade Society - Leaving a legacy

When the time is right for you to remember a charity in your Will, please remember Bryanston.

The only information you need in order to leave a gift in your Will to Bryanston, is our registered address and charity number:

  • Bryanston School, Blandford Forum, Dorset, DT110PX
  • Charity number: 306210

You do not have to tell us how much you have decided to gift but please do let us know your intentions so that we can say “Thank You”.  All those who inform us of their plans to make a bequest to Bryanston are invited to join the Coade Society, whose members meet annually for lunch.

We are also delighted to acknowledge your future gift to Bryanston with a small token of our appreciation, either a pair of silver cufflinks or a brooch.
