Simon Nicholls was an inspirational D&T teacher, highly respected colleague and a friend to many, who sadly passed away three years ago, this week.

Simon taught at Bryanston from 2016 and in the few years that followed, his contribution to the department was impressive.

To commemorate Simon, the D&T Department worked in conjunction with the Bryanston Parents’ Association (BPA) and Simon’s family to bestow a very special award in his name.

The award shield hangs in the D&T Department, mounted by the door of the sixth form classroom, which is aptly named Nicholls.

It is funded by the BPA and is presented each year to a pupil who has excelled across GCSE and since moving into the sixth form, has demonstrated a true understanding of the School’s values, as well as commitment to the subject.

In addition to gaining the prestige, the award winner will be given £400 to be put towards a subject related course or equipment to support their project work through the sixth form.

This year the award goes to Mia L and in celebration of Mia’s achievements, she was presented with the award this morning in assembly by Acting Head Mr Jones.

Mr Mills commented: “Mia is a very impressive design and technologist who is highly committed to the subject area. Her A level work is of a very good standard, she’s currently delivering a ECA Digital Drawing ECA and is looking to move towards Industrial or Product Design at University.”
