The House Entertainment festival this year celebrated 'Epic Journeys' with Purbeck and Portman kicking off the weekend with their abridged version of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Saturday showings of Toy Story 2 (Greenleaves and Shaftesbury) and The Wizard of Oz (Harthan and Dorset) followed suit, and on Sunday, Hunter and Salisbury presented The Jungle Book, with Allan and Connaught bringing the weekend to an energetic close with Alice in Wonderland.
Deserving awards ranged from 'best inanimate object' through to the 'Nero prize for over-acting' but perhaps the most treasured prizes were 'Best actor' awarded to Alice W (Alice), Ollie C (Baloo) and Phoebe I (Dorothy); best directorial team (Rom M, Catalina A V, Kit R and Harvey F for The Wizard of Oz) and the overall winner of best production, awarded to The Jungle Book. James Henshaw also awarded the directors of Toy Story 2 the Coade award for the most organised and tech-savvy directorial team - Ella O N, Amelia W and George D.
With over 250 pupils involved, the festival was as popular as ever with pupils, who put hours into their preparations, and provided huge entertainment for the whole school. Thanks are due to the Coade Hall team, including the pupil crew, led by Gabe R, Xander B and Angus M, and other staff from the drama department, and house teams, who supported this mammoth event.
