U19 County Tournament hosted at Bryanston

The netball U19 County Tournament was hosted at Bryanston on the 8 November. The tournament involved three representatives from each area of Dorset, as a result from their individual area tournaments.

Bryanston were placed into a strong pool, in which the girls won all but one of their games, losing to Bournemouth School for Girls  in their third match. Finishing second in the pool meant they faced Sherborne in a semi-final game. Bryanston played outstanding netball to beat Sherborne 11-6 which finalised our place in the regional competition.

They then had BSG as a rematch in the final. After fulltime the game was drawn 11-11 meaning we had to go into extra time. There were a lot of tired bodies on the court, but the girls managed to pull-away with an attacking contact in the final minutes to win the game.

The girls were over the moon to have come away with the win, it was a day full of grit and resilience. We are now through to the Regional Competition which will takes place at the beginning of February.

The girls that competed were Molly O, Francesca J, Lauren S, Bella B, Iris C, Issy P, Venetia M, Jade C + Olivia V.

Head of Netball, Ceri Evans was delighted with their performance and commitment of her squad. She commented:

‘I am so proud of how the girls represented Bryanston netball, whether that was on the court or on the side-line we won and lost as a team. This Team First Culture is so important to us and one we will continue to support. We now begin our preparation for regionals including pre-season for the girls in January followed by a pre-season tournament in Bath and very competitive fixtures in the Spring Term. We are excited for the challenge and looking forward to representing Dorset at the Regional Finals in January. It has also wonderful to see three of our girls get recognised for their effort with selection for Team Bath ADC Programme ’
