Bryanston Prep: where equestrian dreams begin
With over thirty acres in the heart of Dorset’s countryside, it isn’t any wonder that horse riding is a perm...
Our 40 stables are found in two yards. The first is part of the original Bryanston House designed by Wyatt in the mid-18th century. It forms an attractive horseshoe shape around a central courtyard. The second is a re-modelled Dairy Yard next to our indoor school.
The Equestrian Centre at Bryanston is open to the entire school body; those who wish to partake in a weekly lesson to those with international ambition.
Pupils with their own horses are able to ride as their main sport. We actively encourage our riders to embrace the broad variety of school life and are more than happy for them to be involved in other sports.
Our riders have the opportunity to work closely with the Performance Sport Programme and learn about the biomechanics involved in equestrianism and how they can use this knowledge to develop and improve.
Our small but select coaching staff are BHS qualified and offer a rounded, friendly equestrian education complemented by a team of clinicians who attend regularly and are competing nationally and internationally in their specific field, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Students who do not have their own horse are able to either loan a horse (subject to suitability) and ride as their sport; otherwise weekly lessons are available.
We believe that our riding opportunities enable pupils not only to become better riders and horsemen and women, but also teach valuable life skills.
Pupils are supported and encouraged to compete, and riders enjoy NSEA (interschools) competitions along with affiliated and unaffiliated events in all disciplines.
For students that ride at lunchtime on weekdays, fresh packed meals are provided.
The Equestrian Centre is small and unique. We provide high quality care and attention to all horses liveried with us. Our staff are friendly, helpful and most of all, experienced.
There are two options of keeping a horse with us - sole use livery or a working livery. Please email sos@bryanston.co.uk for more information regarding livery contract terms and conditions. Alternatively phone 01258 484565.
The Equestrian Centre Manager, Sophie Starr, will be more than happy to discuss all aspects of being part of the Equestrian Centre, whether as a weekly rider or a livery owner.
